Kelly, Gentry, Leydig all Earn Medalist Honors
The heat can’t stop quality effort and Aubrey Kelly from Emigrant, MT, Sawyer Gentry from Livingston, MT, and Cate Leydig from Big Sky, MT, were more than up to the challenge at the 2024 Rocky Mountain Section PGA Foundation Yellowstone Junior Championship. The latest rendition of this annual event was contested at Lake Hills Golf Course in Billings, MT, on July 10-11, 2024. The Foundation sends a sizable thank you to host PGA Professional Renzi Lee, his staff, and the ownership and regulars at the course for welcoming our contestants.
Two rounds wasn’t enough for the Boys aged 15-18 as the aforementioned Kelly and Logan Connolly from Billings, MT, played to a tie at 141 strokes through 36 regulation holes. Kelly nipped Connolly in the playoff and Sam Norman from Laurel, MT, wore the third place medal. The Boys’ 14 & Under division saw Sawyer Gentry best his little brother Stuart by 3 shots and Jack Nielsen from Billings, MT, by 11. Sawyer’s solid rounds of 78 & 73 earned him the gold medal. The Girls overall division was also very tight. Only 2 shots separated the 3 medalists. Cate Leydig won by that margin outlasting Camille Poncin from Pray, MT, and Berkley Park from Billings.
