The Rocky Mountain Section Golf Professional of the Year Award

The highest honor paid to a Rocky Mountain Section PGA golf professional. The following guidelines are used to determine the selection of this individual:

  • Overall performance as a golf professional at his/her facility
  • Level of service to the Section and to the Association
  • Leadership ability
  • Image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals
  • Promotion of golf

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Teacher & Coach of the Year

This award bestows special recognition on a Rocky Mountain Section PGA golf professional that has performed outstanding service as a golf instructor. Criteria to be used in the selection of this individual are:

  • Overall performance as a golf professional at his/her facility
  • Service to the Section and the Association
  • Leadership ability
  • Image and ability to inspire fellow professionals
  • Promotion of golf
  • Impact on teaching and golf instruction
  • Involvement in junior activities at the facility and in the community
  • Innovative contributions to golf instruction
  • Articles written for publication

It is recommended, but not mandatory, for Teacher of the Year candidates to have attended or conducted at least two National PGA Teaching Workshops, Seminars or PGA Teaching & Coaching Summits within the last five years, or be certified in teaching through the PGA Certified Professional Program.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Professional Development Award

This award is designed to recognize Rocky Mountain Section PGA golf professionals for their outstanding and continuing contributions to developing and improving education opportunities for the PGA professional. The guidelines for selection for this award are as follows:

  • Contributions to the Section Education program
  • Contributions to educational programs and seminars conducted by National
  • Contributions and assistance toward the development of articles and materials which benefit and relate to education
  • Contribution to building the image of the PGA professional, Section and Association
  • Ability to inspire fellow golf professionals and grow the game of golf.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Bill Strausbaugh Award

This award is presented to the Rocky Mountain PGA member who has shown outstanding integrity, commitment to mentoring PGA Professionals and has made a significant impact on the careers of PGA Professionals. Involvement in Association, Section, community and charitable activities will also be taken under consideration for this award. The following guidelines will be used in selection:

  • Level of service to the Section and/or the Association.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Contributions to building the image of the game of golf, the PGA professional and the Association.
  • Involvement and significant contributions towards improving the skill of fellow professionals
  • Involvement in civic activities and charitable causes within his/her community.
  • Overall integrity and recognition as a person of outstanding character.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Youth Player Development Award

This award is designed to pay recognition to a Rocky Mountain Section PGA professional that is a leader in junior golf, reflects the qualities and ideals of those who work with our Section’s youth, and provides opportunities and experiences for juniors to learn and play golf. The following guideline are to used in making this award selection:

  • Contributions to junior programs and the events in the Section, including service as a chairperson or a member of the Junior Golf Committee
  • Involvement in the promotion and development of junior golf at the facility and also within the community
    Support of Section and National Junior Golf programs
  • Overall image, service and leadership in the area of junior golf
  • Overall integrity as an individual and acceptance by junior golfers as a person of outstanding character

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Merchandisers of the Year

This award recognizes those Rocky Mountain Section professionals who have demonstrated superior skills as merchandisers in the promotion of golf. The award is given for excellence in golf shop operations in three categories: Private, Resort, and Public/Municipal/Military/Semi-Private. The following criteria are applied to all award selections:

  • PGA member in good standing
  • Credit rating with the industry
  • Overall credit rating
  • Community involvement

The candidates are judged in the following areas:

  • Merchandising Performance (Profit Margin, Turn Rate, Cost of Goods, Sales)
  • Details and Innovation
  • Displays
  • Merchandising Techniques
  • Inventory Mix
  • Shop Operations
  • Merchandising Philosophy
  • Staff Training

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Assistant Golf Professional of the Year

An honor paid to a Rocky Mountain Section PGA assistant golf professionals who have distinguished themselves through their service to their facility, Section/Chapter and community. The following guidelines are used to determine the selection of this individual:

  • Overall performance as a golf professional at her/her facility
  • Level of service to the Section and to the Association
  • Leadership ability
  • Image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals
  • Promotion of golf

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Player Development Award

The award recognizes a Rocky Mountain Section PGA member who has made extraordinary contributions and achievements in the area of Player Development. The following guidelines are used to determine the selection of this individual:

  • Contributions to Section and national Play Golf America initiatives.
  • Quantity, quality and diversity of player development programs.
  • Use of Play Golf America tools and resources.
  • Quality of best practices, including uniqueness of ideas, increase in rounds/revenues, retention and customer satisfaction.
  • Inspiration to fellow PGA Professionals in the area of player development.
