Kelly, Woods, Bourret and Leydig Garner First Place Medals
The 2022 Rocky Mountain Section PGA Foundation Yellowstone Junior Championship was played July 6-7 at Lake Hills Golf Club in Billings, Montana, and Aubrey Kelly, Emma Woods, Cooper Bourret, and Cate Leydig all won their respective divisions after 36-holes of competition over two days. Both girls’ divisions and the older boys were close nit affairs as each of our champs were victorious by a single stroke. Cooper Bourret, in the Boys’ 14 & Under division, clipped the field by an 11-shot margin with his great play.
Aubrey Kelly, 15, from Emigrant, MT, fired rounds of 75 & 74 to best Eli Weisenberger, Landon Olson, Samuel Norman, and Stevie Voigt by a single shot in the Boys’ 15-18 year-old division. A scorecard playoff landed Eli the Silver Medal and Landon the Bronze.
Emma Woods, 18, from Fairfield, MT, finished strong with rounds of 79 & 73 to beat Bella Johnson by one stroke and Addiley Lloyd covered 3rd alone nine shots off the winning score in the Girls’ 15-18 year-old class.
Cooper Bourret, 14, from Bozeman, MT, in the Boys’ 14 & under group stood out in the entire field laying down stellar rounds of 67 & 69 overwhelming the quality play of Colin Jensen who earned silver with Jackson Eckley necking bronze.
The Girls’ 14 & under troops saw 14-year-old Cate Leydig from Big Sky, MT, eek out a single shot victory with rounds of 92 & 91 over silver medalist Kira Connell and Dylan Manka wore bronze a few more shots behind.
