John Van Vleet Captures Rocky Mountain Section Senior PGA Professional Title;
Earns Berth in 36th Senior PGA Professional Championship
John Van Vleet, PGA General Manager at Preston (Idaho) Golf & Country Club, is the winner of the 2024 Rocky Mountain Section Senior PGA Professional Championship contested July 16-17 at Blue Lakes Country Club in Jerome, Idaho, and will lead three Section PGA Professionals to compete Sept. 26-29, in the 36th Senior PGA Professional Championship. This is John’s first trophy as the Senior Professional champion in the Rocky Mountain Section. The Senior PGAPC will be held at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon.
Van Vleet turned in a winning total of even-par, 74-70=144, to capture the Rocky Mountain Section Senior PGA Professional Championship supported by Golf Channel, ROLEX and The PGA TOUR. Brent Fleshman, PGA Head Professional from Jackpot (Nevada) Golf Club, finished 2 shots off the pace alone in 2nd and previous champion Jim Empey, PGA Teaching Professional from The Valley Club in Sun Valley, Idaho, was solo 3rd one shot further back. Due to their fine play, these gentlemen qualified for the aforementioned Senior PGA Professional Championship.
