PGA Professionals Nick Blasius and Matt Ennis, both from Boise, Idaho, teamed together to shoot an 8-under-par round of 64, to share the lead with the team of PGA Professional Marc Vedder and his partner Steve Tarkon, both from RedHawk Golf Course in Nampa, Idaho. Alone in third place with a fine round of 7-under-par, 65, was the PGA Professional duo of Brett Nagel from Star, Idaho, and Lance Rieber of Boise, Idaho. Mother Nature offered a break to the players on day 1 of this championship as the forecast was pretty dismal for many days prior to the event. While it was a bit brisk, it stayed dry and there was no wind to speak of to hinder the players. Eleven of the 19 teams in the regular division posted sub-par scores and the final round promises to be quite the shootout. The RMSPGA Fall Pro-Pro is supported by Chris Jenkins of JC Golf Accessories, Matt Novak and Cody Faught of Mizuno, Jeff Smith of adidas Golf, OMEGA and The PGA TOUR.
There is also a tie at the top in the senior division where the team of PGA Professionals Mike Hamblin of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Tommy Sanderson from Sun Valley, Idaho, share the lead with PGA Professionals Steve Meyerhoeffer also from Twin Falls and Tad Holloway from Ontario, Oregon. Both teams fired rounds of 5-under-par, 67 and hold a 3-shot lead going in to Tuesday’s final round.
The two-round event is being contested at the par 72, 6720 yard Idaho Falls Country Club in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The modified alternate shot final round shotgun start will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1st. The Rocky Mountain PGA would like to thank Jason Jacobsen, PGA Head Professional, and the always hospitable staff at Idaho Falls Country Club for hosting the event and for the care shown to the competitors. The Rocky Mountain PGA also extends its sincerest appreciation to the aforementioned sponsors for their kind and always generous support of the RMSPGA Fall Pro-Pro.
