FERRELL & DIX, MEYERHOEFFER & HOLLOWAY CLAIM SHOOTOUT TITLES

The 2020 TaylorMade Rocky Mountain Section PGA Pro-Pro Shootout was played in the finest weather imaginable at Idaho Falls Country Club and 54 holes was not enough to decide the champions.  A playoff was necessary between the teams of Nathan Ferrell & Adam Dix, Marc Vedder & Derek Thompson, and Travis Hofland & Brett Kleinkopf.  All three teams matched 3-round totals of 17-under-par, 199.  The Vedder/Thompson pair from RedHawk Golf Course in Nampa, Idaho, made a bogey on the first playoff hole to get eliminated leaving room for the Ferrell/Dix team to birdie the second playoff hole to capture the title.

Nathan Ferrell, PGA Head Professional at Tributary in Driggs, Idaho, and Adam Dix, PGA Assistant Professional at Teton Pines Golf Club in Wilson, Wyoming, fired rounds of 65-70-64=199 to make the playoff.  Ferrell’s birdie on the second playoff hole was enough to outlast Travis Hofland, PGA Teaching Professional at Pebble Ponds Golf Course in Filer, Idaho, and Brett Kleinkopf, PGA Head Professional at Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho, and the previously mentioned Vedder/Thompson team.

On the Senior side, the team of Steve Meyerhoeffer & Tad Holloway nipped Tim Reinke & John Lewis by a single stroke.  Meyerhoeffer, the PGA General Manager at Twin Falls (Idaho) Golf Club, and Holloway, the PGA Head Professional at TimberStone Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho, shot rounds of 62-68-69=199 to hoist the Senior division hardware.  Reinke, the PGA Head Professional at Pinecrest Golf Club in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Lewis, the PGA Head Professional at Centennial Golf Course in Nampa, Idaho, fell just short with their excellent rounds of 67-67-66=200.

The first two rounds of the 54-hole Shootout were played on Monday, October 5th and the formats were scramble and modified alternate shot. The final round concluded on Tuesday, October 6th and the format was four-ball stroke play.  Thirty-seven, 2-person professional teams competed in regular and senior divisions from the Rocky Mountain Section PGA for a purse of $26,400.
