Matt Stricker, PGA Head Professional at Exchange City Golf Course in Billings, Mont., and assistant professional Chris Lien, from Yellowstone Country Club, also in Billings, won their respective flights and took home the winner’s share in the 2023 Yellowstone Chapter PGA Pro-Pro, supported by Bridgestone Golf, Levelwear, Evolve Golf, ROLEX and The PGA TOUR.

The event was contested at the 6,168 yard Hilands Golf Club in Billings, Mont., on Monday and Tuesday, April 17th and 18th. The format of play for the event was a scramble the first 18 holes, four-ball stroke play the second 18 holes, and modified alternate shot (Chapman) the final 18 holes. Teams were formed from two flights for each round and the scores earned by each player were combined to create their three-round total to determine the two winners. In the Hogan Flight, Stricker needed two playoff holes to win with a 10-under-par 54-hole total of 203. The remarkable 80-year-old PGA Life Member John Peterson finished in second place with his equal 203 total. In the Nicklaus Flight, Lien finished at 17-under-par and bested second place finisher Ted Babcock, PGA Head Professional at Valley View Country Club in Bozeman, Mont., by five shots. We would be remiss if we didn’t congratulate Lake Hills Golf Course PGA Head Professional Renzi Lee for achieving perfection with an Ace during the tournament on the 5th hole!
The PGA Members and Associates of the Yellowstone Chapter thank Eddie Kavran, PGA Head Professional, Bryce Finnman, PGA General Manager, and the Hilands Golf Club and its staff for hosting the event. The Chapter also thanks Bridgestone Golf and representatives Matt Seare and Justin Moore, Andy Hollister, PGA, and Justin Phillips with Levelwear, Max Lerner from Evolve Golf, ROLEX and The PGA TOUR for their support of the event.
