When you strike it square, the wind doesn’t eat you alive and Zayne Slotten and Justin Snelling did exactly that to the tune of a tie through 36 holes of a windblown test in the RMSPGA Assistant’s Championship.  Slotten, an assistant golf professional from Twin Falls (Idaho) Municipal Golf Course played a brilliant little wedge from 110 yards to 7 feet on the first playoff hole.  Snelling, the PGA Assistant Professional at Boise (Idaho) Ranch Golf Course, hit his approach just short in a bit of light rough and he barely peeled the edge on his little pitch trying to force the pressure to Slotten.  With the door open, Slotten stepped right through burying the putt to earn the title.  His solid rounds of 74-69=143, 1-under-par, put him in a tie with Snelling’s 72-71=143 in truly tough conditions.  Both Zayne and Justin earned spots in to the 2024 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship to be played at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in November.

The 2024 National Car Rental RMSPGA Assistant Professional Championship supported by Srixon | Cleveland Golf | XXIO | Asics, ROLEX, and The PGA TOUR was contested at Jerome Country Club in Jerome, Idaho, on Thursday, June 27th.  The Rocky Mountain Section PGA wishes to express its gratitude to the sponsors, host PGA Professional Alex Nixon, his staff, and the gracious membership at Jerome CC that welcomed us for this championship.
