Sean Thomsen, PGA, from Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been named the 2022 Assistant Professional of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.  Thomsen is a 10-year Member of the PGA of America and has been employed at Pinecrest the last 6 seasons.

Sean is very involved in all day-to-day golf operations at Pinecrest Golf Course. He has been, and is, a crucial part of the operation and a professional who takes on his responsibilities of teaching, tournament operations, staff management, and guest care with an easy-going demeanor and positive approach.  He possesses the dedication to detail necessary to see any job through to a successful conclusion. Sean is very focused on each individual experience at the course and, as a supervisor, makes sure that visit is as enjoyable as possible. He is constantly looking for ways to accommodate the needs of others while serving the best interests of the players, his employer, and the game he loves.

Thomsen has administered many events and is heavily involved in all tournaments conducted at Pinecrest.  He believes preparation is the key to running smooth functions and strives to make sure every element of any tournament is planned, accounted for, and ready to roll come tee-off time.  Sean also takes great pride in player development as he has enjoyed his time as a High School golf coach for many years.  Sean is proud to wear many hats as an assistant professional at “The Crest” and willingly takes on any and all tasks assigned to him.  He feels the more he does, the more he learns and the more he learns, the more valuable he is to the facility and the city of Idaho Falls.  Sean does his very best to lead by example as he continues to never stop learning the many aspects of the golf business.  This is Thomsen’s first award within the Section, and it will be formally presented to him at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Section PGA next May.
