The 2020 Rocky Mountain PGA Professional Championship & PGA Section Championship presented by Club Car & OMEGA and supported by Titleist/FootJoy, Nike and TaylorMade Golf needed a 37th hole to find its champion and his name is Travis Hofland.
Hofland, a PGA Teaching Professional from Twin Falls, Idaho, has been close multiple times in the past in this championship and finally cracked the code to victory. His 6-under-par final round of 64, after a first round 67, was only good enough to garner a tie with PGA Professional Fred Sutton from Nampa, Idaho, who also shot excellent rounds of 67-64=131 to finish at 9-under-par. Sutton found some trouble off the tee on the first playoff hole which allowed Hofland’s par to hold up for the winner’s hardware.
The top four finishers in this championship earned spots in to the 54th PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA in 2021 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Joining Hofland and Sutton are PGA Professionals Spencer Smith from Crawfordville, Florida, and Nathan Ferrell from Driggs, Idaho.
The Rocky Mountain Section PGA wishes to sincerely thank PGA Host Professional, Tim Reinke and his terrific staff from Pinecrest Golf Club in Idaho Falls, Idaho, attending sponsors John Johnson from TaylorMade Golf and Terry Outzen and Steve Lenett from Titleist. The Section greatly appreciates the support of our Section Championship from Nike, Golf Channel and The PGA TOUR.
