PGA PROFESSIONALS AND AMATEURS RAISE THOUSANDS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AT ANNUAL PRO-AM

Host PGA Head Professional Brett Kleinkopf from Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho, shot a fine 1-over-par round of 72 in extremely blustery conditions to win this year’s Rocky Mountain Section PGA Foundation Larry Malone Scholarship Pro-Am.  First Tee of Idaho’s Executive Director Nick Blasius, PGA and his team of amateur players Jeff Storti, Joe Panzeri and Jess Hawley captured the team title with a stellar 10-under-par, one gross ball/one net ball, total of 132. In the senior division, Quail Hollow Golf Club’s PGA Director of Instruction, Jim Empey, shot his own round of 1-over-par, 72, to capture first place honors.

This was the 47th playing of this long-standing charity event which was conducted at the 6,880 yard, par 71, Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho, on Monday, April 19, 2021.

The Malone family and The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Foundation wish to sincerely thank head golf professional Brett Kleinkopf, PGA, and the rest of the Hillcrest Country Club staff and membership for their always gracious hospitality.

Since 1974, the Rocky Mountain PGA and generous sponsors have teamed up to raise more than $288,000 in scholarship funds for junior golfers.  This scholarship program started in memory of Larry Malone who had a successful golf career at Twin Falls High School and Weber State University.  Mr. Malone succumbed to cancer in 1974, and for 47 years local PGA Professionals, amateurs, friends and family have gathered to remember this young man and his love of the game.

We appreciate the generous contributions everyone has made to the 47th Annual Rocky Mountain PGA Foundation Larry Malone Scholarship Pro-Am.
