Cole Lorenz, PGA Assistant Professional at The Valley Club in Sun Valley, Idaho, won the National Car Rental Rocky Mountain Section Assistant PGA Professional Championship held on Thursday, June 20th at Jackpot (Nevada) Golf Club.
By winning, Lorenz qualified for the 43rd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, Nov. 14-17, at PGA Golf Club’s Wanamaker Course in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its twenty-fourth consecutive Assistant PGA Professional Championship.
Lorenz posted a 7-over-par, 75-76=151, in brutally windy conditions to clip Tom Conway, associate professional at Big Sky (Mont.) Resort in a wonderfully exciting 3-hole playoff. Conway stayed alive on the first two playoff holes from jail on the first and then he canned an impossible putt from off the green on the second playoff hole. Lorenz calmly parred the 3rd playoff hole to capture his second Assistant Championship in a row. Jacob McKinney, associate professional from Laurel (Mont.) Golf Club finished alone in third place two shots behind. Both Lorenz and Conway qualified to go to the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship.
The Rocky Mountain Section PGA wishes to sincerely thank PGA Head Professional Brent Fleshman and his willing staff from Jackpot Golf Club for their hospitality and use of the facility. Thank you as well to supporting sponsors Golf Channel, John Deere, OMEGA and The PGA TOUR.
