MARK HOLIDAY  AND RON RAWLS TO BE INDUCTED INTO ROCKY MOUNTAIN SECTION PGA HALL OF FAME

Mark Holiday, the long-time Director of Golf and co-owner of Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman, Montana, will be inducted into the Rocky Mountain Section PGA Hall of Fame.  Mr. Holiday has distinguished himself during his professional career as a PGA of America Member within the Rocky Mountain Section and was selected by virtue of his career achievements.  The RMSPGA Hall of Fame was established in 2013 by the Section Board of Directors to recognize those members who have displayed exemplary service both to the game of golf and the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.

Holiday is currently the co-owner of Bridger Creek Golf Course which opened in 1994. Mark has been a PGA Member since 1992 and has spent his career focused on teaching and player development.  

Mark has many accomplishments to recognize, including being named the PGA of America’s National Player Development Award winner in 2012 and the Rocky Mountain Section Player Development Award winner in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2017. In addition, he has been honored as the Golf Professional of the Year in the Rocky Mountain Section in 2013. Mark has also earned awards for Merchandiser of the Year in 2003 and 2011, as well as the Bill Strausbaugh Award in 2005 and 2022.

Mark has served the PGA of America, the RMSPGA and the Yellowstone Chapter with devotion during his career.  Most recently, he served as President of the Yellowstone Chapter in 2005 & 2006 and Vice President from 2003 to 2004. Over the course of his career, Mark has chaired the Awards Committee, Growth of the Game Committee, and the Scholarship Committee for the Rocky Mountain Section. Additionally, Mark has served as a committee member for the Rocky Mountain Section Tournament Committee and the PGA of America’s Player Development Committee.

Holiday has promoted the game of golf relentlessly adhering to his philosophy of, “No matter how golf participation fluctuates nationally, strong local programs can keep golf flourishing in any region.” Mark has focused on four key areas to develop players including running corporate/community outings, hosting tournaments, running numerous leagues, and teaching group lessons to adults and juniors. Notably, year in and year out, the adult group sessions have over 100 participants and the junior lessons see more than 300 young golfers, peaking at 385.

Along with his activities at the golf course, Mark is also involved with many organizations in his community including;

  • Coach for Lions Club Basketball
  • Leadership Bozeman
  • Golf Committee Bozeman Chamber of Commerce
  • Bible Study Fellowship
  • Golf Speaker to Rotary and Lions Clubs
  • Engaged with the Montana State Golf Association for 30 years
  • First Security Bank Junior Tour Board of Directors

Holiday has also been an active participant in Section events through the years and has been the low scoring professional many times in pro-am events.  Mark is a 2-time Yellowstone Chapter Pro-Pro champion. In 2004, he and partner Dave Baucom were victorious and in 2010, he and partner Dave Snyder were crowned champions of the Yellowstone Chapter Pro-Pro.  The RMSPGA congratulates Mark for this crowning career recognition.

Ron Rawls, the long-time Head Golf Professional at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho, will be inducted into the Rocky Mountain Section PGA Hall of Fame.  Mr. Rawls distinguished himself during his professional career as a PGA of America member within the Rocky Mountain Section and was selected by virtue of his career achievements.  The RMSPGA Hall of Fame was established in 2013 by the Section Board of Directors to recognize those members who have displayed exemplary service both to the game of golf and the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.

Rawls was elected to PGA membership June 1, 1989 and has been a member for 35 years. He relocated back to the Rocky Mountain Section in 2004 after spending time at both Kauai Lagoons Resort as Head Professional and then Director of Golf, and then at Illahe Hills Country Club where he assumed the role of General Manager/Director of Golf.

Ron has many accomplishments to recognize including being named the Golf Professional of the Year in the Rocky Mountain Section in 2012 and again in 2020. Ron also earned Golf Professional of the Year honors in 2004 from the Pacific Northwest Section. In addition, he has earned the Bill Strausbaugh Award five times and the Merchandiser of the Year Award for private facilities in 2007, 2010, and 2016.

Ron has served the PGA of America, the Rocky Mountain Section PGA and the Snake River Chapter with devotion during his career.  Most recently, he served as the District 9 Director, representing the Rocky Mountain, Utah, and Colorado Sections, from 2017-2020. He served as Rocky Mountain Section Secretary from 2007 – 2009, Section Vice President from 2009-2011, and Section President from 2011-2013.

His commitment and service to the PGA Member extends past the Rocky Mountain Section borders as he has served on many National PGA committees including the Deferred Compensation Task Force, Properties Advisory Committee, Member Championships/Tournament Committee, Awards and Honors Committee and the Apprentice Committee.  He also served as Chairman for both the Member Championships/Tournament Committee and Awards and Honors Committee.

Rawls has also been an active participant in Section events through the years including winning the Rocky Mountain Section Championship in 2004, and Senior Section Championship in 2016 and 2018. He has competed in the PGA Professional Championship six times, the PGA Regional Professional Championship four times, and the PGA Senior Professional Championship seven times.  The RMSPGA sincerely congratulates Ron for his lifetime of accomplishments.

Rocky Mountain Section PGA golf professionals were nominated and selected by a committee composed of the current president, past presidents of the Section, and Hall of Fame Members still residing within its borders.  The induction of Mark Holiday and Ron Rawls will occur as part of the Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Section PGA on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA is composed of southern Idaho, eastern Montana, western Wyoming, northern Nevada and Ontario, Oregon.  The Section, founded in 1935, is dedicated to elevating the standards of the PGA Member’s vocation and growing interest and participation in the game of golf.  The Section has two Chapters, Snake River and Yellowstone.  More information on the Section can be found within this website.
