Giboney goes Back-to Back at 2026 RMSPGA Assistant Championship
Giboney and Snelling earn berths to the 2026 PGA Assistant Professional Championship after 36-hole test at Blackfoot Municipal Golf Course
BLACKFOOT, Idaho — Grayson Giboney of BanBury Golf Course captured the 2026 RMSPGA Assistant Championship, completed Thursday at Blackfoot Municipal Golf Course in Blackfoot, Idaho. Giboney, along with runner-up Justin Snelling, PGA, of Boise Ranch Golf Course, earned a berth to the 2026 PGA Assistant Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Giboney set the pace from the opening tee shot, carding a 5-under 67 in the first round and adding a 4-under 68 in the second for a 36-hole total of 135, nine under par. His steady ball-striking carried him to a three-stroke victory in the stroke-play test. The win made Giboney a back-to-back champion, following his title last year at Snake River Sporting Club.
Snelling made his move on the final day, posting the low round of the championship — a 7-under 65 — to surge into the runner-up position. After an opening 73, his closing 65 lifted him to 138, six under par, and secured the second berth to the national championship. Snelling is no stranger to the title, having won the championship in 2022 also at Blackfoot Municipal Golf Course.
Garrett Woodin of Hilands Golf Club, the 2023 champion at Sage Lakes Golf Club, finished as first alternate at 139, five under par. Brady Cady of Hilands Golf Club and Chris Lien of Yellowstone Country Club tied at 141, three under par, to claim the second and third alternate positions, with Preston Nelson of Jerome Country Club rounding out the alternates in the fourth spot.
Blackfoot Municipal Golf Course presented the 30-player field in excellent condition, highlighted by spectacular greens, with pleasant weather throughout both days of competition.
The Rocky Mountain Section PGA extends its thanks to Mike Dayley, PGA, and his staff — including Preston Hafer and Mason Day, who also competed in the field — for their gracious hosting and the considerable work that went into preparing and presenting the championship.
