CARTER & MOON SHARE LEAD FOR BOYS – CARTER ALONE FOR GIRLS AFTER FIRST ROUND OF RMPGA JUNIOR SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP

Perfect conditions at Canyon Springs Golf Course in Twin Falls, Idaho, made for a highly competitive 1st round in the Rocky Mountain Section Junior Championship. Fifty-eight Boys and Girls ages 13-18 teed it up to vie for 2 spots each to go to their respective PGA Junior Championships next month at the venerable Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Conn.

Zach Carter from Eagle, Idaho, and Dawson Moon from Chubbuck, Idaho, share the lead after firing 2-under-par rounds of 70. Carly Carter shot an even-par round of 72 en route to a five-shot lead in the Girls’ Division. On a side note, the game of golf and it’s reputation for sportsmanship of the highest order owes a thank you to Zach Martin from Rexburg, Idaho. Zach posted a first round of 69 to hold the lead, however, about a half hour after he had signed his card, he realized an error of a single stroke on a hole and reported his own disqualification from the event.
