Nicklaus Blasius has been named the recipient of the 2020 Youth Player Development Award in the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.  Blasius began his career in golf in 2013, earned his PGA membership in 2018, and has found his career path and passion in junior golf as a result of his experiences.

The Youth Player Development Award bestows special recognition upon a PGA Professional who has displayed extraordinary and exemplary contribution and achievement in this field.  Nick has been notably committed to youth golf since his days as an assistant professional at Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho.  During his four years there, his youth programs doubled in attendance due to his tireless pursuit of what works best for the children and their families.  Also during this time, Nick was asked to serve as a board member for the Idaho Junior Golf Foundation which went right along with his interests in continuing the promotion and growth of junior golf.

August of last year brought Blasius a new opportunity as he was offered the job of Executive Director for First Tee of Idaho.  First Tee is a national organization devoted to introducing kids to the game of golf and teaching them life skills using the game as the vehicle.  This position is a great fit for Nick with his experience in fundraising, his management skills, and above all, his driving passion for getting more young people introduced to our great game at a cost conducive to lifelong participation.  Just because he has an executive roll now won’t keep Nick off the grass.  Outside of the office, he still teaches kids the game and loves every second of it.

The 2020 Youth Player Development Award marks the first time Blasius has earned a Section honor in his young career.  He will be presented with the 2020 RMSPGA Youth Player Development Award next May at the RMSPGA Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation.
