TYSON BOWEN EARNS 2024 RMSPGA YOUTH PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AWARD

PGA Professional Tyson Bowen, from Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Youth Player Development Award for the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.  Bowen has been a member of the PGA of America since 2019 and has enjoyed the development of junior players greatly during his time as an Assistant Professional at Sage Lakes Golf Club in his home town.

The Youth Player Development Award bestows special recognition upon a PGA Professional who has displayed extraordinary and exemplary contribution and achievement in this field.  Through his work with the Mountain West Golf Academy, he has been recognized as an Operation 36 Master Coach.  Nearly 150 children, ranging in age from 4 to 17, work with Tyson on a weekly basis.  The skill levels range from pure beginners to elite level talent.  Bowen’s dedication to mentoring and developing young talent has had a profound impact on the golf community, inspiring the next generation of players while promoting the values of sportsmanship and hard work.

Tyson’s schedule is packed with junior golf initiatives.  In addition to his work with the Academy and Operation 36, he has coached Skyline High School Boys’ and Girls’ golf teams the last 10 years.  His teams have multiple district championships and have fared quite well at the state level.  Tyson’s commitment to his students’ development has fostered an environment where young athletes not only love the game, but excel at it as well.  2025 will bring a new chapter to Bowen’s career as he is going to focus solely on his teaching having accepted a position at Tee Box Idaho Falls.  The Section wishes Tyson every success in the next chapter of his profession.

This is the first time Bowen has been recognized as a Section award winner.  He will be presented with the 2024 RMSPGA Youth Player Development Award this coming May at the Section Annual Meeting and Awards presentation.
