Jeff Allen has been named the recipient of the 2018 Youth Player Development Award in the Rocky Mountain Section PGA. Allen was elected to membership in the PGA of America in 2016 and has not wasted any time in making an impact on junior golf.
The Youth Player Development Award bestows special recognition upon a PGA Professional who has displayed extraordinary and exemplary contribution and achievement in this field. As Jeff is the Assistant PGA Professional at Hilands Golf Club in Billings, Mont., his career path is dedicated greatly to the advancement and development of junior players. His philosophy focuses on the simple premise of making golf a better game for everyone he meets. Jeff has a clear understanding that his presence as a PGA Professional includes being a role model to all the children he sees. Parents depend on him to guide their kids not just in golf, but in making good decisions about life. The role model part of Jeff’s daily life suits him just fine. “It is great to be able to have the opportunity to influence our youth in a positive way through the game of golf.” Allen states.
Jeff has been a PGA Junior League captain the last five years in addition to being the league lead the last four. He also captained the Billings All-Star team to the first ever Rocky Mountain Section PGA Junior League Championship. During his eight years at Hilands Golf Club, Allen has developed youth player development programs covering all age groups and all levels of play.
Keeping children engaged is always challenging and Jeff creatively uses SNAG equipment, TPI junior golf activities, and PGA Sports Academy elements to create a constantly stimulating and fresh approach to his junior programing. His “Masters Program” addresses the need at his facility to engage the better players and competitive youth wanting more advanced coaching. Quite simply, no youth golf stone is unturned on Jeff Allen’s watch.
The 2018 Youth Player Development Award marks the second time Allen has earned a Section honor as he was the Assistant Golf Professional of the Year in 2014. He will be presented with the 2018 RMSPGA Youth Player Development Award next May at the Section Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation.
