SMITH & POLLAND SURVIVE 3-WAY PLAYOFF TO WIN 2022 TAYLORMADE RMSPGA PRO-PRO SHOOTOUT
54 Holes was just not enough to decide the 2022 RMSPGA TaylorMade Pro-Pro Shootout supported by JC Golf Accessories, Bushnell Golf, Dynamic Brands, ROLEX and The PGA TOUR. Three teams put together an incredible display of scoring going 20-under-par to make it to the extra session. In the end, the team of Ben Polland and Spencer Smith, both PGA Professionals from Shooting Star in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, capped off their stellar rounds of 59-66-65=190, with a birdie on the third playoff hole to take the winner’s share. Sharing second place were the PGA Professional duos of Brett Kleinkopf from Hillcrest CC in Boise, Idaho, and his partner Travis Hofland from Pebble Ponds GC in Twin Falls, Idaho, and Justin Snelling from Boise (Idaho) Ranch GC and his teammate Zach Abels from Canyon Springs GC in Twin Falls, Idaho.
On the Senior side, dominance was the theme. Longtime partners and multiple time past winners of this event, PGA Professionals Mike Hamblin, from Blue Lakes Country Club in Twin Falls, Idaho, and his partner Jim Empey, from Quail Hollow Golf Club in Boise, Idaho, swallowed the title with brilliant rounds of 58-64-66=188 and a 22-under-par total. They finished seven shots clear of the PGA Professional team of Tad Holloway from Timberstone GC in Caldwell, Idaho, and his partner Steve Meyerhoeffer from Twin Falls (Idaho) Municipal GC.
The first two rounds of the 54-hole Shootout were played on Monday, May 16th, and the formats were a Scramble followed by Modified Alternate Shot. The final round concluded on Tuesday, May 17th, and the format was Four-Ball Stroke Play. 43 two-person professional teams competed in regular and senior divisions from the Rocky Mountain Section PGA for a purse of $22,000.
The Rocky Mountain Section PGA would like to thank John Johnson, Territory Sales Manager of TaylorMade for the Title sponsorship. Appreciation is also extended to supporting sponsors Bushnell Golf representative Charley Carlson, Chris Jenkins from JC Golf Accessories, Mike Langley from Dynamic Brands, ROLEX and The PGA TOUR for supporting this event.
