LEE, SOMERS AND RAWLS ARE ROCKY MOUNTAIN SECTION PGA 2019 PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

“Rocky Mountain Section PGA Player of the Year” has a nice ring to it, and 2019 was a year in which there was no doubt as to the deserving winners.  The Section recognizes its players of the year in three categories:  The Player of the Year, Women’s Player of the Year, and Senior Player of the Year.  The Section wishes to thank OMEGA for their generous support for our Players of the Year.

Kelbi Lee, PGA Head Professional at Black Bull in Bozeman, Montana, is the 2019 Player of the Year in the Rocky Mountain Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America.  This marks the first time Kelbi has earned this award doing so in style.  Lee earned the hardware this year with brilliant play, winning both the Section Championship and the Yellowstone Chapter Championship, leaving no doubt who was the best in 2019.

Katie Somers, PGA Head Professional at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho, used her fine play in the Section Championship, finishing tied for 16th, which garnered her enough points to take home her second consecutive Women’s Player of the Year Award.

RMSPGA members age 50 and older compete for Senior Player of the Year honors and the 2019 winner is Ron Rawls, PGA Head Professional at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho.  Ron’s fine play year in and year out could only lead to him eventually capturing a Senior Player of the Year crown, and his perseverance and steady play finally earned him the hardware.  Rawls was victorious in the Snake River Chapter Senior Match Play Championship, finished tied for second in the Senior Section Championship and had a solid finish in the Section Championship.  Ron put a cherry on the top by making the cut in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship to easily clinch his Senior Player of the Year Award.

Lee, Somers, and Rawls will formally receive their Player of the Year awards in May of 2020 at the Rocky Mountain PGA Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony.
