GARUS & GOULET ARE RSMPGA JUNIOR CHAMPS – SZENTANAI & CARTER ALSO ADVANCE

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Boys’ and Girls’ Jr. Championships have been contested and our champions identified.  By virtue of their excellent play, four representatives of the Rocky Mountain Section earned the right to play in the 48TH BOYS & GIRLS JUNIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP which will be held at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, on July 30-August 2, 2024.

Congratulations go out to 18-year-old Trevor Garus of Boise, Idaho, as he is the 2024 RMSPGA Boys’ Junior Champion.  Garus absolutely lit up his final 9 holes, firing 5-under-par, 31, enroute to his 69-68=137, 7-under-par total, which bested 2nd place finisher, 15-year-old Aidan Szentanai, also from Boise.  Aidan’s 67-73=140 total was two shots clear of solo third place finisher, 18-year-old Jaxson Wright, who will never forget the par-5, 15th hole at Big Sky Resort GC as he made an albatross 2 and a birdie 4 in his two rounds.

Kudos are also in order to Boise, Idaho’s 18-year-old Girls’ Champion Kelly Goulet.  Her steady rounds of 73-75=148 earned her a solid 4-shot victory.  16-year-old Cara Carter from Eagle, Idaho, repeated her previous year’s performance finishing second alone, six shots clear of third place finisher, 16-year-old Indie Taylor, also from Eagle.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA wishes to thank PGA Professionals Tom Conway and Kelbi Lee, their willing and gracious staff, and host facility Big Sky Resort Golf Course in Big Sky, Montana, for hosting the 2024 Rocky Mountain Section PGA Boys’ & Girls’ Junior Championships.
