PETE BURTON IS THE 2024 RMSPGA ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR
& PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AWARD WINNER

PGA Assistant Golf Professional Pete Burton, from Lakeview Golf Club in Meridian, Idaho, has been named the 2024 Assistant Professional of the Year and the Player Development Award winner for the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.  Burton has been employed at Lakeview the last 3 seasons after being elected to PGA Membership in 2021.

The Assistant Professional of the Year Award is an honor paid to a Rocky Mountain Section PGA assistant golf professional who has distinguished themselves through his/her service to their facility, Section/Chapter and community.  The Player Development Award considers the Professional’s “Growth of the Game” leadership commitment at Section and National levels and the impact made at his/her own facility.  Pete’s work ethic is the secret to his success.  His daily routine is anything but ordinary as he dips his talents into everything that comes in to his sphere.  “Not my job” is not in Pete’s vocabulary.  He runs events, deals with members, cleans golf cars, repairs clubs, handles inventory, and schedules staff.  All of this, among other things, keeps him busy even with a full teaching schedule!

During the winter months, Burton visits schools promoting the game.  He works with Parks & Recreation departments, coaches a local High School team and runs PGA HOPE and Junior League programs.  Pete is also a site director for Girls Golf Boise and never says no when the Section needs assistance with anything at all.  He truly enjoys his work and is a credit to the profession.

These are Burton’s first awards within the Section, and they will be formally presented to him at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Section PGA in May.
