2018 IDAHO OPEN CHAMPION IS BEN BRYSON

Ben Bryson, PGA Head Professional from BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho, followed his opening round of 73 with a final round of 3-over-par, 75, for a two-round total of 4-over-par, 148, to capture the 2018 Idaho Open in seasonably blustery conditions.  36 holes wasn’t enough to find this year’s winner, as Bryson captured the title on the second playoff hole by defeating John Wilson, PGA Assistant Professional at Juniper Hills Country Club in Pocatello, Idaho.

Sean Thomsen, PGA Assistant Professional at Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho, loves to play golf in the wind.  Chamber of Commerce conditions on Day 1 of the Rocky Mountain PGA Professional Championship / Section Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA and supported by Titleist/Footjoy, Nike and TaylorMade didn’t suit Sean’s game as he carded an uninspiring round of 5-over-par 77.  What a difference a day makes…

INAUGURAL ROCKY MOUNTAIN SECTION PGA JR. LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPLETE

The first ever Rocky Mountain PGA Jr. League Section Championship was contested at Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on August 17, 2018.  Four All-Star Teams earned their way in to the event to try to advance to the PGA Jr. League regional competition.  Teams from Central Idaho, Billings, Montana, Boise, Idaho, and Canyon County, Idaho, all came in their team colors and fought hard to earn the PGA Jr. League Section Championship title.

WYOMING DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT LOCAL QUALIFIER CROWNS ITS CHAMPIONS

Wyoming’s Drive, Chip & Putt local qualifying tournament was held on August 4, 2018, at The Powder Horn in Sheridan, Wyoming.  77 children signed up for the event which included boys and girls ages 7-15, who competed in separate divisions in four age categories.  The Drive, Chip and Putt Championship will provide playing opportunities throughout all 50 states during the months of May, June, July and August.  Top performers at the local level will advance through sub-regional and regional qualifiers in July, August and September.  The top 80 performers – 40 boys and 40 girls – will earn an invitation to the National Finals at Augusta National on Sunday, April 7, the eve of the 2019 Masters.

THE PGA RETAINS THE CARTER CUP IN DRAMATIC FASHION

The 2018 Carter Cup was nothing less than a classic.  The Idaho Golf Association amateur team roared out of the gate taking 12 ½ of the available 15 points after the first day’s morning Foursome matches.  The afternoon Four-Ball matches were a different story however, and the Rocky Mountain Section’s Snake River Chapter PGA crew captured 10 of 15 points available to cut their morning 10 point deficit in half.  The score going in to day two’s singles matches was the IGA 17 ½ and the PGA 12 ½.  The 30 points available in the singles matches on the final day would clearly be the deciding factor…

RAWLS CROWNED SENIOR CHAMPION FOR 2018

Ron Rawls of Boise, Idaho, winner of the Rocky Mountain Section Senior PGA Professional Championship July 17-18, 2018, contested at Crane Creek Country Club, will lead four Rocky Mountain Section PGA Professionals to compete in the 30th Senior PGA Professional Championship supported by Golf Advisor and John Deere.

RAWLS IS THE FIRST ROUND LEADER IN SENIOR SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP

The Rocky Mountain PGA Senior Section Championship/Senior Professional Championship supported by Golf Advisor, John Deere, The PGA Tour, and OMEGA began today at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho.  Sweltering heat was no match for Host PGA Professional Ron Rawls’ field leading 2-under-par round of 70.

 

THE RMSPGA GIVES GOLFERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT MILITARY FAMILIES

Now through October 15, The RMSPGA is teeing golfers up with the opportunity to donate to Folds of Honor, the nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to families of America’s fallen and disabled military members. Donations can be made at more than one hundred participating golf courses throughout four states including Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Nevada.

BARRY & FEHRINGER ARE 2018 JUNIOR RMSPGA CHAMPIONS

Day 1 was about perfect weather and low scores.  The story on Day 2 was perseverance in the wind.  The 2018 Junior Rocky Mountain Section PGA Championship held at Centennial Golf Course in Nampa, Idaho, was conquered by Carson Barry on the Boys’ side and Payton Fehringer for the Girls’ Championship.

LORENZ SEIZES RMSPGA ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Cole Lorenz, PGA Assistant Professional at The Valley Club in Sun Valley, Idaho, won the National Car Rental Rocky Mountain Assistant PGA Professional Championship held on Thursday, June 21st at Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  By winning, Lorenz qualified for the 42nd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, Nov. 15-18, at PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker Course) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its twenty-third consecutive Assistant PGA Professional Championship.
