LORENZ SEIZES RMSPGA ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Cole Lorenz, PGA Assistant Professional at The Valley Club in Sun Valley, Idaho, won the National Car Rental Rocky Mountain Assistant PGA Professional Championship held on Thursday, June 21st at Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  By winning, Lorenz qualified for the 42nd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, Nov. 15-18, at PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker Course) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its twenty-third consecutive Assistant PGA Professional Championship.

FOUR RMSPGA PROFESSIONALS OFF TO THE 51st PGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2018 PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA is being contested June 17-20 at Bayonet and Blackhorse in Seaside, California.  The Rocky Mountain Section PGA is represented by four qualifiers from last year's Section Championship.  PGA Professionals Jim Empey, from Boise, Idaho, Zach Abels and Travis Hofland from Twin Falls, Idaho, and Brad Martin from Elko, Nevada, will tee it up on the coast in an effort to earn some championship hardware.  We wish them the best of bounces and great play!

EIGHT TEAMS WITHIN FOUR SHOTS OF CAPTURING THE SHOOTOUT TITLE

Brett Nagel, PGA Director of Instruction at The Club at SpurWing in Meridian, Idaho, with his partner Luke Sestero, PGA Assistant Professional at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho, shot brilliant rounds of 65 and 58 to match the equally fine work put forth by Brett Kleinkopf, PGA Head Professional at Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho, and his teammate Travis Hofland, PGA Head Professional at Twin Falls (Idaho) Golf Club, who shot rounds of 63 & 60 for matching totals of 17-under-par, 123, to take a single shot lead over the team of PGA General Manager Adam Martens from The Club at SpurWing and his partner Lance Rieber, PGA Teaching Professional at Warm Springs Golf Course in Boise, Idaho, in the 2018 TaylorMade Rocky Mountain Section PGA Pro-Pro Shootout presented by adidas Golf and supported by The PGA TOUR, OMEGA and Bushnell Golf. 

 

DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT LOCAL QUALIFIER CROWNS ITS CHAMPIONS

The state of Idaho’s only Drive, Chip & Putt local qualifying tournament was held on May 6, 2018, at Ridgecrest Golf Club in Nampa, Idaho.  182 children signed up for the event which included boys and girls ages 7-15, who competed in separate divisions in four age categories.  The Drive, Chip and Putt Championship will provide playing opportunities throughout all 50 states during the months of May, June, July and August.  Top performers at the local level will advance through sub-regional and regional qualifiers in July, August and September.  The top 80 performers – 40 boys and 40 girls – will earn an invitation to the National Finals at Augusta National on Sunday, April 7, the eve of the 2019 Masters.

PGA PROFESSIONALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY NAMED GENERAL MANAGERS

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (April 24, 2018) – The PGA of America announced today that 101 PGA Professionals were either promoted, hired or declared as a General Manager (GM) at public, private and resort facilities nationwide during the first quarter of 2018.  The spike in PGA Professionals earning GM positions aligns with the PGA’s recent repositioning of PGA Career Services, as more resources are now available to better serve employers, PGA Members and individuals seeking to gain employment within the golf industry.

 

HAGEN AND LIEN CAPTURE YELLOWSTONE CHAPTER PGA PRO-PRO

Doug Hagen, PGA General Manager at Hilands Golf Club in Billings, Mont., and assistant professional Chris Lien, also from Hilands, won their respective flights and took home the hardware in the Mother Nature dominated 2018 Yellowstone Chapter PGA Pro-Pro, supported by Bridgestone Golf, Cutter & Buck, OMEGA and The PGA TOUR.

LARRY MALONE SCHOLARSHIP PRO-AM RAISES $9,000

Since 1974, the Rocky Mountain PGA and generous sponsors have teamed up to raise nearly $260,000 in scholarship funds for junior golfers.  This scholarship program started in memory of Larry Malone who had a successful career in golf at Twin Falls High School and Weber State University.  Mr. Malone succumbed to cancer in 1974, and for 44 years local PGA Professionals, amateurs, friends and family have gathered to remember this young man and his love of the game.

HOLLOWAY & TORRES ARE THE 2018 SRC FACILITY CHAMPS

Mother Nature could not have been kinder to the 24 two-player professional teams teeing it up in the 2018 RMSPGA Snake River Chapter Facility Championship.  PGA Head Professional, Tad Holloway, with his associate Director of Golf partner Danny Torres, both from TimberStone Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho, shot rounds of 68 and 64 for a two-round total of 12-under-par, 132, to outlast the host PGA Professional Ryan Nielson and his associate professional Sam Jacobson by 3 shots.

VOICE CADDIE TO SUPPORT SNAKE RIVER CHAPTER FACILITY CHAMPIONSHIP

Voice Caddie, makers of GPS range finders has been added as a partner of the Rocky Mountain Section and specifically, the Snake River Chapter.  Voice Caddie will be a supporting sponsor of the 2018 Snake River Chapter Facility Championship.
