JONATHAN GIBBS & BEN BRYSON EARN YOUTH PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AWARD

With their combined efforts at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho, Ben Bryson, PGA Head Professional, and Jonathan Gibbs, PGA Director of Instruction, have been named the recipients of the 2015 Youth Player Development Award. Bryson has been a member of the PGA of America since 2008 and Gibbs has been a PGA Member since 2004.

 

The Youth Player Development Award bestows special recognition upon PGA Professionals who have displayed extraordinary and exemplary contribution and achievement in this field.  

 

TIM REINKE HONORED WITH 2015 BILL STRAUSBAUGH AWARD

Tim Reinke, the Head Professional of Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been selected by the Rocky Mountain Section PGA as the 2015 recipient of the Bill Strausbaugh Award.  Reinke, a 31 year member of The PGA of America, was honored with this award for the third time as a member of the Rocky Mountain Section. 

 

Established in 1979, the Bill Strausbaugh Award is presented to a PGA Professional who, by their day-to-day efforts, has distinguished themselves by mentoring their fellow PGA Professionals in improving their employment situations and through service to their community.

 

DUSTIN AMES IS THE HORTON SMITH AWARD WINNER FOR 2015

Dustin Ames, PGA Head Professional at Jug Mountain Ranch in McCall, Idaho, has been selected by the Rocky Mountain Section PGA as the recipient of the 2015 Horton Smith Award.

 

The Horton Smith Award is presented to a PGA member for his outstanding contributions to professional education.  

 

JIM EMPEY IS THE 2015 TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Jim Empey, the PGA Director of Instruction at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Boise, Idaho, has been named the 2015 Teacher of the Year by the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.

            

The Teacher of the Year award bestows special recognition on a Rocky Mountain Section PGA golf professional that has performed outstanding service as a golf instructor. The honoree is chosen based on his or her performance, leadership, image, promotion of the game of golf, impact on teaching and golf instruction as well as their involvement in junior activities at their facility in addition to innovative contributions to golf instruction and published articles.

Thomas Buran of Milford, Ohio, shot rounds of 66 and 70 to capture the 2015 edition of the PEPSI Gallatin Valley Open by a single shot.

 

 

 

JOHN VAN VLEET FIRES 58

Congratulations to John Van Vleet, PGA General Manager at Preston (Idaho) Golf and Country Club. John, Vice President of the Rocky Mountain Section PGA, shot an astounding 13-under-par, 58 in the Preston G & CC Pro-Am on Monday, August 31st. This is an incredible achievement, in particular for one hosting and administering a Pro-Am, and we congratulate him for his excellence!
