Jonathan Gibbs, PGA Teaching Professional at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho, has been selected by the Rocky Mountain Section PGA as the recipient of the 2018 Horton Smith Award.  The Horton Smith Award is presented to a PGA member for his outstanding contributions to professional education. 


Gibbs, elected to PGA membership in 2004, reflects this commitment through seminars he has so willingly presented to the Snake River Chapter PGA.  In addition to his presentation on tax implications facing PGA Professionals, Jonathan has also been a key figure in the expansion of Junior League Golf in the Rocky Mountain Section.  Jonathan’s educational reach has extended nationally as well, having produced three instructional videos for  These recordings are part of the instructional library available to all members and associates of the PGA of America.  Gibbs has tirelessly given his time to organize and promote various educational experiences and opportunities for the members and associates of the Section.


This honor marks the fourth occasion Gibbs has earned a Section award as he was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award in 2006 and 2016 and the Youth Player Development Award in 2015.  He will formally receive recognition as the Horton Smith Award honoree at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Section PGA Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation in May.
