MIKE DAYLEY HONORED AS 2018 RECIPIENT OF THE BILL STRAUSBAUGH AWARD

Mike Dayley, the Head PGA Professional at Blackfoot (Idaho) Golf Course, has been selected by the Rocky Mountain Section PGA as the 2018 recipient of the Bill Strausbaugh Award.  Dayley, a 36-year member of The PGA of America, was honored with this award for the first time as a member of the Rocky Mountain Section.  Established in 1979, the Bill Strausbaugh Award is presented to a PGA Professional who, by their day-to-day efforts, has distinguished themselves by mentoring their fellow PGA Professionals in improving their employment situations and through service to their community.

As a PGA member, Mike has worked tirelessly to promote the PGA of America and its members.  As a result, he has been actively involved with assisting many of his former assistant professionals in establishing their careers as PGA professionals.  Mike has spoken countless times through the years at the Exchange Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, and many other local clubs about what it takes and means to be a PGA Professional.  No matter who he comes in contact with, Dayley has always tried to instill the values of sportsmanship, integrity and fair dealing.  Mentoring is something Mike has taken seriously his entire career.  He has always made it a priority to help his assistants to achieve their class “A” membership in to the PGA of America.  Dayley has made sure his assistants are “hands-on” in every aspect of the business of golf so they are ready to run their own facility when their number is called.

The 2018 Bill Strausbaugh Award adds to an already distinguished resume for Dayley.  In addition to this honor, he previously garnered three RMSPGA Merchandiser of the Year Awards for public facilities in 1991, ’92 and ‘93, the Junior Golf Leader Award in 1993, and he received the highest honor a Section can present, the Golf Professional of the Year Award in 1994.  Dayley will be formally recognized as the 2018 RMSPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award winner at the 2019 Annual Meeting and Honors and Awards Presentation next May.
