Sean Thomsen, PGA Assistant Professional at Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho, loves to play golf in the wind.  Chamber of Commerce conditions on Day 1 of the Rocky Mountain PGA Professional Championship / Section Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA and supported by Titleist/Footjoy, Nike and TaylorMade, didn’t suit Sean’s game as he carded an uninspiring round of 5-over-par, 77.  What a difference a day makes…

Wednesday’s final round had the wind blowing and Thomsen’s score dropping.  His nearly flawless round of 66 jumped him from a tie for 19th and 7 shots off the lead, to carrying home the championship trophy.  Travis Hofland, PGA Head Professional at Twin Falls (Idaho) Golf Club, Ben Bryson, PGA Head Professional at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho, and Host PGA Professional Paul-David Milton from Huntsman Springs in Driggs, Idaho, all finished tied for 2nd place with 1-over-par totals of 145.  All four of these gents qualified for the 2019 PGA Professional Championship to be contested at Belfair in Bluffton, South Carolina, next April.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA would like to thank Paul-David Milton, his wonderfully attentive staff, and the members at Huntsman Springs for their exceptional hospitality.  We would also like to thank presenting sponsors Club Car and OMEGA in addition to supporting sponsors Titleist/FootJoy (Brad Racine), Nike (Chris Hammond), and TaylorMade (John Johnson).  Thank you also to Golf Channel and The PGA TOUR for their support of PGA of America Professional Tournaments.

The Rocky Mountain PGA Professional Championship / Section Championship was contested Tuesday and Wednesday, August 28-29, 2018, and was played in fond memory of Brian Eekhoff, PGA.
