RAWLS IS THE FIRST ROUND LEADER IN SENIOR SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP

The Rocky Mountain PGA Senior Section Championship/Senior Professional Championship supported by Golf Advisor, John Deere, The PGA Tour, and OMEGA began today at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho.  Sweltering heat was no match for Host PGA Professional Ron Rawls’ field leading 2-under-par round of 70.    Right on his hot heels are Tad Holloway, PGA Head Professional at TimberStone Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho, and Jim Empey, PGA Director of Instruction at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Boise, Idaho.  Both Tad and Jim fired rounds of 1-under-par 71 to complete the final grouping for Wednesday’s finale.

The final round will be played again at Crane Creek Country Club beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18th.  The 21 player field is competing not only for a Section Senior Championship, but also for four spots in to the 30th Senior PGA Professional Championship to be contested at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in late October.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA wishes to thank the aforementioned supporting sponsors and PGA Head Professional Ron Rawls and his staff for their kind hospitality.
