HAGEN AND LIEN CAPTURE YELLOWSTONE CHAPTER PGA PRO-PRO
DOUG HAGEN AND CHRIS LIEN ARE YELLOWSTONE CHAPTER PGA PRO-PRO CHAMPIONS
Doug Hagen, PGA General Manager at Hilands Golf Club in Billings, Mont., and assistant professional Chris Lien, also from Hilands, won their respective flights and took home the hardware in the Mother Nature dominated 2018 Yellowstone Chapter PGA Pro-Pro, supported by Bridgestone Golf, Cutter & Buck, OMEGA and The PGA TOUR.
The event was contested at the 6,168 yard Hilands Golf Club in Billings, Mont., on Monday and Tuesday, April 23rd and 24th. The original format of play for the event was to include a scramble the first 18 holes, four-ball stroke play the second 18 holes, and modified alternate shot (Chapman) the final 18 holes. However, winter refused to let up just yet and the event was contested without the alternate shot round being played. Teams were formed from two flights for each round and the scores earned by each player were combined to create their two-round total to determine the two winners. Hagen needed a playoff to defeat PGA Life Member John Peterson after they posted like scores of 12-under-par, 130, and Lien won his flight with a two-round total of 10-under-par, 132, by two shots over PGA Head Professional Eddie Kavran also from Hilands Golf Club and Kelbi Lee, PGA Head Professional at Black Bull in Bozeman, Mont.
The PGA members and associates of the Yellowstone Chapter thank Doug Hagen, PGA General Manager, Eddie Kavran, PGA Head Professional, and the Hilands Golf Club and its staff for hosting the event. The Chapter also thanks Bridgestone Golf and representatives Matt Seare and Gary Spinelli of Bridgestone, Cutter & Buck and representative Andy Hollister, PGA, OMEGA and The PGA TOUR for their support of the event.
