EMPEY CAPTURES 4th SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP CROWN

Jim Empey of Boise, Idaho, winner of the Rocky Mountain PGA Professional Championship held August 29-30, 2017, at Teton Pines Country Club in Jackson, Wyo., will lead four Section PGA Professionals to compete in the 51st PGA Professional Championship to be contested June 17-20, 2018, at Bayonet Black Horse in Seaside, California.

JIM EMPEY HAS TWO SHOT LEAD AFTER DAY 1

PGA Professional Jim Empey of Boise, Idaho, carded a first round score of 4-under-par, 68, on a day that featured a one hour weather delay and perfect conditions otherwise at Teton Pines Country Club & Resort to take a two shot lead over Travis Hofland, PGA, from Twin Falls, Idaho.  Alone in third place, shooting a 1-under-par round of 71, is PGA Professional Kali Quick of Alpine, Wyo., after the first round of the 2017 Rocky Mountain PGA Professional Championship/Rocky Mountain PGA Section Championship presented by Club Car, Mercedes-Benz USA, and OMEGA.

$1,000,000 MARK SURPASSED

A major charitable milestone was achieved on August 7, 2017 at The Duke Family Foundation Windfall Classic played at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho.  Now more than one million dollars has been raised benefiting Idaho charities in the event’s history.  This year’s tournament saw 21 five-player teams compete in a variety of formats on a smoky but pleasant day.  The Rocky Mountain Section and its professionals that participated all thank the Duke family for their continued generosity to the many organizations this event benefits.  Click the event on the homepage calendar for complete results.

 

BURTON IS THE 2017 SENIOR SECTION CHAMPION

With Rocky Mountain Section Senior PGA Professional Title, Kevin Burton Earns Berth in 29th Senior PGA Professional Championship

 

Kevin Burton of Boise, Idaho, winner of the Rocky Mountain Section Senior PGA Professional Championship July 18-19, 2017 at Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club, will lead three Rocky Mountain Section PGA Professionals to compete in the 29th Senior PGA Professional Championship presented by Mercedes-Benz USA and supported by Golf Advisor and John Deere.

LUTHY LEADS BY ONE AFTER ROUND ONE OF THE SENIOR SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP

Playing golf in the shadow of the Grand Tetons in perfect conditions fit right in with Fred Luthy’s plans.  The PGA Assistant Professional at Teton Lakes Golf Course in Rexburg, Idaho, shot a first round 1-under-par, 71, to take a one shot lead over PGA Director of Instruction, Kevin Burton from Pierce Park Greens in Boise, Idaho.  

 

HENLEY AND SMALL ARE JUNIOR CHAMPIONS

Bailey Henley of Jerome, Idaho, used rounds of 75 and 76 to fire a two round total of 9-over-par, 151, to win the Rocky Mountain Section PGA Girls’ Junior Championship over defending champion Payton Fehringer of Pocatello, Idaho, by four shots.  On the boys’ side, J.R. Small from Bozeman, Mont., shot fine rounds of 68 and 74 to post an even par total of 142 to win the boys’ title by a single stroke over Sam Tidd of Meridian, Idaho.  This year’s championship was held at Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman, Mont.

HENLEY AND SMALL HOLD FIRST ROUND LEADS IN RMSPGA JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Bailey Henley of Jerome, Idaho, shot a first round 4-over-par, 75, to take a two shot lead over Payton Fehringer of Pocatello, Idaho, after the first round of the 2017 Rocky Mountain Section PGA Girls’ Junior Championship being conducted at Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman, Mont.  On the Boys’ side, J.R. Small from Bozeman shot a terrific round of 3-under-par, 68, to seize a three shot lead over Caleb Trost of Billings, Mont.

DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT QUALIFIER SENDS 24 KIDS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Local Qualifying Event Held at Ridgecrest Golf Club Complete

A break in the weather was cause for thanks as more than 150 children took their best 9 swings to qualify for the next level of the Drive, Chip & Putt competition.  Twenty-four skilled players (12 girls and 12 boys) qualified to move on to the subregional competition to be held on August 1st at Rose Park  Golf Course in Salt Lake City, Utah.
