DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT QUALIFIER
LOCAL DRIVE CHIP AND PUTT QUALIFIER STARTS SUNDAY AT 9:30 a.m.
Local Qualifying Event to be Held at The Powder Horn on June 18th.
After an incredibly successful first few years of the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship, the Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association (USGA) and the PGA of America are behind the 2017 edition in full force.
Thousands of youngsters had opportunities to qualify in the previous years, which began with local qualifying at courses throughout the country and continued with regional qualifying. This year the DC&P Championship has a total of 268 local qualifiers across all 41 PGA Sections and 50 states during the months of May thru early August. Top performers at the local level will advance through subregional and regional qualifiers in late July, August and September. The top 80 qualifiers (40 girls and 40 boys) will earn an invitation to compete at the National Finals at Augusta National on April 1, on the eve of the 2018 Masters.
Competitors will be comprised of boys and girls ages 7-15, who will compete in separate divisions in four age categories. The regional champions in each of the boys’ and girls’ divisions from the four age categories will advance to the finals.
THE POWDER HORN qualifying event will take place on Sunday, June 18th beginning at 9:30 a.m. and three qualifiers in each age and gender group will advance to the subregional qualifying event in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 1st and then the top two qualifiers in each age and gender group advance to the regional qualifying event at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California.
